After working together as a research group centering around the event that was Eyjafjallajökull in May 2010, ‘Correspondence from Eyjafjallajökull’ went about re-examining the idea of Europe. With no air traffic possible, Europe found itself connected in a very physical way, a unity that is the opposite in many ways of how ‘Europe’ has been so recently conceived. Through various forms of artistic research and development new, kaleidoscopic perspectives of Europe came about, moving from peripheries such as Turkey and Iceland itself, moving inward to the imaginative world of European identity creation.
With a strong focus on the problematic nature of European discourse as it currently is offered, the recent rise of protests movements in Spain appear in contributions from Maria Ptqk, Emanuele Guidi, Juan Freire and Santiago Eraso: the 15th May Movement in Spain and The Arab Spring pre-dated but also foretold the wider Occupy movement of 2012, an incredible year in which protest and the right to protest swept the world in myriad forms. The playful use of fiction to create stories and identity is evident in contributions from Pavla Ascher, John Holten and Alan Pauls. Re-imagining the line of Europe’s borders opens the anthology with Urzsula Wozniak’s essay on Turkey’s relationship with Europe, while Markus Miesson offers an extension of the realm of what can be thought of as ‘Europe’ with an extract from his East Coast Europe project.

An investigation into modes of artistic and political production in contemporary Europe, through an investigation of work being produced in the locus of East and West twenty years after the Mauerfall in Berlin. Using Berlin as a prism, a series of texts and artworks by some of Europe's finest practitioners are presented in a unique book-object that works through its own layout and design as a physical exhibition.

Expanded Architecture began as a sell-out architecture film festival and panel discussion in November 2010 at Performance Space, Carriageworks, Sydney. It brought together the films from over 40 local and international artists and architects, concentrating on the intersections of avant-garde film, expanded cinema and architecture.
As part of the Sydney Architecture Festival, Expanded Architecture 2011 invited proposals for collaborative, site-specific moving image projections and filmic installations. Selected proposals were part of an exciting one night only exhibition in the inspirational foyer space of CarriageWorks, Sydney on Wednesday October 26th 2011.
The invitation was open to artists, film-makers, architects, design professionals and students or anyone that is interested in architecture, art and film. Submissions proposed site-specific moving-image projection installations, responding to the foyer of CarriageWorks, or its immediate urban context.

This is a book that acts as an extension of the exhibition Oblivion and whose subjects are memory and fading memories. Oblivion was conceived as a group show of five international contemporary artists who explore these concepts in diverse media.
Working as both an archive and as a record for the artists and their works, it is also a melting pot and indeed a starting point to explore the mental and philosophical speculations of these subjects. Not to be defined so much as a “catalogue” per se, it is rather part of the Oblivion project and can be enjoyed as an independent element at the same time. The title, Oblìo, comes from the Italian translation of the English project's title.
Alongside a full colour carnet of the artworks and presentations of the artists, curator Elisa Rusca invited other contributors to write about their notions of oblivion. The five essays and two interviews compiled in the book each take on a unique way of looking at fading away in our contemporary society. Professor and neurologist Jean-Fraçois Démonet explains the physical and chemical process that happens in the brain when we forget; textual artist Rebecca Howard contributes with a written performance on memory; history of art student Charlotte “Lalou” Rousseauexplores lyrically the construction of fake memories; writer and radio producer Craig Schüftan takes us on a trip into the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll and the notion of fading away; while art historian Vincent Surmont wrote a text about collective memories, private recollections and the myth of a perfect memory. Net artist Olia Lialina was interviewed by Rusca about her practice and the search for immortality through the World Wide Web. Further to this professor, chemist and director of CSGI (Centre for Colloid and Surface Science) in Florence Piero Baglioni answered questions relating to restoration and his work with nanotechnologies.
From science to poetry, from sociology to the Internet, Oblio wishes to expand the analysis and discussion of the many aspects related to fading memory and contemporary art.
